Our Values

As the Community Alliance for Trauma Informed Care, we believe that showing up with COMPASSION and AUTHENTICITY helps us achieve our goals.

We will actively create a sense of BELONGING by:

  • Inviting one another into our spaces (both the physical/virtual room and the work
  • Creating room for openness and trust
  • Acknowledging and celebrating differences and diversity (gender, race, orientation, history, experience, education, etc.
  • Welcoming one another into the conversation and listening to understand

We will actively create a sense a SAFETY for another by:

  • Honoring our personal (regulation) needs first
  • Offering ample space for all ideas, opinions, and bodies
  • Creating predictable environments (letting others know what to expect and offering time to prepare)
  • Allowing for autonomy and choice
  • Acknowledging our biases, asking questions, and holding our judgments when not helpful
  • Maintaining confidentiality
  • Providing opportunities everyone to be active in sharing (by using a variety of methods) AND active in their listening, silence, and reflection
  • Celebrating with one another and amplifying the good through laughter and fun

We will uplift one another’s BOUNDARIES by:

  • Honoring, accepting, and encouraging one another’s “no” without question, because we know that this tender work requires both energy and rest.
  • Respecting each other’s time and actively encouraging balance (health, family, and staff take priority

We will practice the hard work of HOPE, by:

  • Engaging in deep and thoughtful conversation/ideas
  • Exploring big ideas
  • Thinking creatively and collaboratively
  • Bravely moving the work forward
  • And making time for joy
